The new security system that is set to be installed at Chipotle stores around the country is going to cost more than $5,000, according to a company report.
That’s up from the $3,000 the company had said it was going to spend on the system last year.
The cost for the new system will be higher than the $2,000 it cost to install the system in November, according a company spokesperson.
Chipotle has already added two new cameras that can record video and take images, according the spokesperson.
That was the system that was supposed to be on store floor security cameras last year, but the company decided to keep the new camera system in place for now.
“Chipotle is continuing to work with local law enforcement, local governments, and other security stakeholders to ensure our stores are secure,” Chipotle said in a statement to ESPN.
“We will continue to make the necessary improvements to our security to ensure that our guests, employees, and associates are safe.”
Chipotle has said that it plans to increase security at all of its stores, but will not specify when the changes will happen.
